YOUR FIRST CRYPTO WALLET
Hey there! The TiENWORLD team is back with the next entry in our series of posts designed to help you get started in the Metaverse. There’s nothing more daunting than a tutorial starting off with a wall-of-text, so let’s skip the fluff and get right to the good stuff!
This step-by step guide breaks down the MetaMask on-screen prompts, so feel free to follow along with either one!
- Head over to metamask.io on a mobile device or a supported web browser and install the app/add-on.
- Click the “Create A Wallet” button.
- Choose whether or not you’d like to share your user data with MetaMask.
- Create a password for your account. Note that you will not be creating a username–that will be assigned to you, shortly.
- You will be given a Secret Recovery Phrase–a twelve-word phrase that will essentially be impenetrable security from potential threats. KEEP THIS PHRASE IN A SAFE PLACE.

Congratulations, you’ve set up your first crypto wallet!
WHAT DO I DO NOW?
Great, you’ve got your crypto wallet set up, but we’re not done yet! Even though your crypto wallet is ready to go, you can’t actually use MetaMask as a service to swap/exchange assets. MetaMask is essentially your vault where you’ll store all your Ethereum and other NFT tokens, but you’ll need to use a crypto currency exchange platform such as Coinbase if you’re planning on swapping, investing, or staking.
There are a few routes you can take from here, and we’re going to go over the pros and cons of a couple of them.
INVESTING and STAKING
Like stocks, cryptocurrency can be invested and staked with great return potential. But of course, bigger rewards means higher risk. You might be tempted to head over to Reddit and follow the latest /r/wallstreetbets investing craze, but don’t do it. Trust me, unless you’re feeling particularly confident (or lucky), it’s best to hold off on Holding On for Dear Life (HODL). In the same vein, staking is essentially committing a certain amount of Ethereum to a specific token, then reaping the rewards when that particular token excels. It’s significantly less volatile, but still risky if you’re not sure what you’re doing.
If either of those two routes interest you, I’d strongly recommend doing a fair bit of research on investment strategies before diving in. But don’t ask me, I’m not the guy for that.
GAMES, GAMES, and MORE GAMES
Many game developers have made breakthroughs in utilizing cryptocurrency decentralized nature, turning it into a play-to-earn model. Using a crypto wallet, the player is granted access to the game by acquiring an NFT token that acts as an entry point; the player uses their token as a playable character in order to compete and earn stronger NFT characters. And let me just say, these games aren’t half-bad either! Axie Infinity, for example, offers a unique spin on the classic PvP monster-battler genre, allowing you to acquire more digital assets with each opponent you defeat.
HOW THIS TIES INTO TiENWORLD
At TiENWORLD, we’ve taken this innovative gamification model and expanded upon it in ways that haven’t yet been explored. We sought out to create a platform for users to express their artistic abilities, earn in-game status and rewards, and encourage users to contribute to an ever-evolving virtual environment. We looked at what worked (as well as what didn’t) in this new play-to-earn model, and we spent a long time consolidating the gameplay with the growth potential for a user’s digital assets. But we didn’t stop there. We also found inspiration from games like Roblox and Minecraft–games which truly encourage the player to reach to the outermost parts of their imagination.
TiENWORLD is designed from the ground up to incorporate ways for the player to upload their own content, allowing them to earn ranks through their own ingenuity and creativity. Players will be able to stake and swap their TiENWORLD assets, growing their digital collection as they acquire more user uploaded content.
