Let’s be honest, embracing change can be scary. The world is changing at a rapid pace as technology advances faster than it ever has before. Words like metaverse, cryptocurrency, and NFTs have become common terms seemingly overnight, yet progress continues to be held back by misrepresentation, miscommunication, and misunderstanding. TiENWORLD aims to connect the bridge between the virtual world and the physical world, and the first step in achieving that goal is to help users understand exactly what this change means. This is the first in a series of posts designed to help you understand our vision, our intentions, and everything you can do to get a head start in our new reality.
METAVERSE?
This word is everywhere. I know it, you know it, your distant relative six states away knows it. Although this term seems to have come out of nowhere, the concept of a metaverse is something that most users should be familiar with as sci-fi narratives have been exploring the idea of inter-linked virtual worlds for some time. The idea is simple at its core: how can we connect every virtual environment in a way that allows for seamless, decentralized interaction.
FOR EXAMPLE
While at Disneyland, you acquire a FastPass that requires you to return in two hours. However, you can’t leave the park entirety or you’ll have to re-acquire a Fastpass for a later time slot. Rather than leaving the park, you decide “I’d like to go to Universal Studios for the next two hours.” A completely unrelated park, owned and operated by a different entity and located nearly two hours away. However, simply walking through a portal will send you to Universal Studios while your Disneyland countdown continues to progress — because you didn’t technically leave. To make it even better, you’re also be able to easily swap your rewards points from Disneyland to be used at Universal Studios as well!
This is what the Metaverse represents. A decentralized union of every virtual world, all with the ability to take your progress from one world into the next — even if they’re owned by different entities. All of this is made possible by your crypto wallet!
WHAT IS A CRYPTO WALLET?
In order to get started in the Metaverse, you’re going to want to set up a Web 3.0 protocol — for the sake of simplicity, we’ll call this a crypto wallet. There are many options to choose from, Metamask or Trust Wallet for example, but at the end of the day it doesn’t make a huge difference.
Your crypto wallet will assign you a unique token, a string of letters and numbers that essentially proves ownership. Most modern crypto wallets support cross-token storage, meaning regardless of which tokens you’re collecting; you can store all of your assets all in a single crypto wallet.
HOW THIS TIES INTO TiENWORLD?
The idea behind TiENWORLD is to create a social experience that allows users to create, collect, and swap their own content in a decentralized environment. With that in mind, TiENWORLD operates on Ethereum, as well as its own two tokens, $NATI and $PLOT. This means that a user must create a Web3.0 address prior to signing up. The user’s crypto wallet will double as both an account log-in as well as storage for everything they earn while in TiENWORLD.
And, remember how we talked about turning in points across theme parks? Well, that Ethereum can be turned in, across the Metaverse, in any virtual experience that runs on Ethereum.
NON-FUNG… WHAT?
Non-Fungible Tokens, or NFTs, are at the heart of this massive shift in handling digital exchanges. An NFT is essentially a virtual record stored in your crypto wallet that proves ownership of digital goods. For example, that drawing of your dog you commissioned? Yeah, that’s all yours, champ, and you’ve got the NFT to prove it.
